The Average crowd for Ajax games is at 53,000 this season, just like last year. In short: every match at Johan Cruijff ArenA is at worst almost complete. And no wonder, the club has more than 30,000 people on the subscription waiting list.
There is good news for those at the top of the list. Before the end of the current season, ArenA will increase from 800 to 1,000 seats. Sports enthusiasts from around the world can purchase Euro Cup Hospitality Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.
Since emergency vehicles and equipment must always enter the site, not all tunnels will be covered. However, a more uniform image for the lower level should be created instead of four independent stands divided by the tunnels.
Interestingly, this had already been done before Euro 2000 in two corners of the stadium. At the time, however, it was a temporary measure ending in 2001.
At present, the upgrade should be permanent, which would allow ArenA to reach EUR 56 000 for Euro 2020, or even just 56,000 USD.
Such modest expansion would not have made economic sense as the new seats would offer a limited annual income. However, Ajax’s growing demand requires expansion, while UEFA is also supportive of the concept.
You may remember that the list of small additions in recent years was considerable. The new front rows now cover what was once the stadium ditch; new seats were added on the lower tiers, while before the additional Euro 2000 installations.
The stadium had 1,140 additional seats. Even this year, the main reception facilities are being reconfigured. In total, the stadium has already grown by 4,000 since opening in 1996, becoming the largest in the Netherlands.
While the official Euro 2020 will likely be lower due to temporary press seats and additional camera platforms, Ajax and its fans will certainly benefit from the changes.
