Schar to miss Switzerland’s final Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers

Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar will miss Switzerland’s European Championship qualifiers against Georgia and Gibraltar as he continues his recovery from a knee injury. Sports enthusiasts from around the world can purchase Switzerland Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

The 27-year-old has missed Newcastle United’s last three Premier League fixtures and will continue to work towards a return to full fitness at the Magpies’ Benton training center while his country attempts to secure their qualification for next summer’s EURO 2020 tournament.

So far, Schar has played in five of Switzerland’s six Group D games so far, netting once against the Republic of Ireland in September. Should Vladimir Petkovic’s men win both games, Switzerland will secure their place at next year’s finals, which is set to be held in 12 cities across Europe.

Fellow center-half Ciaran Clark has been recalled to the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of their crucial qualifier with Denmark on Monday.

The United defender has been in fine form for the Magpies, netting twice in as many games to help lift Steve Bruce’s side to 13th in the Premier League table.

And he has been rewarded with a return to the Ireland fold, with Mick McCarthy naming the 30-year-old in his squad for their fixtures this month.

McCarthy’s men face New Zealand in a friendly in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on Thursday night, before the vital clash with Denmark at the same venue four days later.

Ireland currently sits top of Group D and know that a win over second-place Denmark will further boost their qualification hopes.

Martin Dúbravka’s Slovakia, meanwhile, are also in qualifying action this week, with games against Croatia and Azerbaijan in Group E.

Newcastle’s number one is likely to line up in Rijeka for their clash with group leaders Croatia on Saturday night before they welcome Azerbaijan to Trnava on Tuesday for a fixture which could decide their hopes of making it to the finals.

Further afield, DeAndre Yedlin’s USA will face Canada and Cuba in the CONCACAF Nations League during the next fortnight.

Yedlin could feature for his country when they welcome Canada to Orlando on Friday, before they take on Cuba in George Town, Cayman Islands, on Tuesday.

Winger Miguel Almirón is also in action this week, as his Paraguay side play friendlies with Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia.

Both games see Paraguay travel away, with the Bulgaria game held in Sofia on Thursday and the Saudi Arabia contest in Riyadh on Tuesday.

Fellow Newcastle man Emil Krafth, meanwhile, is due to become a father, but could still link up with the Sweden squad later this week.

Janne Andersson’s side currently sits second in Group F and wins over Romania and the Faroe Islands in the coming week would secure their qualification.

Young defender Oisin McEntee is part of the Ireland Under-19 squad for their European Championship qualifying triple-header against Switzerland, Gibraltar and Austria, while midfielder Joe White – who penned his first professional contract at St.

James’ Park last week – could make his bow for England Under-18s, who face Russia, Norway, and the Czech Republic in friendlies at the Pinatar Arena in Spain.

Matty Longstaff could also make his international debut in England Under-20s’ friendlies with Portugal and Iceland Under-21s.

Euro 2020: Can Northern Ireland secure a shock double-win over Germany and the Netherlands?

Euro 2020 qualifying campaign is drawing ever closer to its climax and, as such, the muddied waters of the potential path to the play-offs are becoming slightly clearer. Football fans can book Northern Ireland Euro Cup Tickets from our website on exclusively discounted prices.

Euro 2020: Can Northern Ireland secure a shock double-win over Germany and the Netherlands?
Euro 2020: Can Northern Ireland secure a shock double-win over Germany and the Netherlands?

Even the most optimistic members of the Green and White Army will concede that gaining automatic qualification for Euro 2020 is, shall we say, unlikely for Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland has been the losses of a tough group containing both Germany and the Netherlands. They fell out of the automatic spots in October after an agonizing late downfall to the Netherlands and face a tough task to get back in.

Realistically, to qualify, Michael O’Neill’s men probably need to win their final two fixtures. Except that the final two fixtures include a home game against the Netherlands and another heavyweight clash against.

The Germans in their own backyard. Having lost to both sides in the first round of fixtures, there’s nothing suggesting that Northern Ireland can do so this time around. With Germany and the Netherlands both on 15 points.

Euro 2020: Can Northern Ireland secure a shock double-win over Germany and the Netherlands?
Euro 2020: Can Northern Ireland secure a shock double-win over Germany and the Netherlands?

Northern Ireland in third place with 12 points one win against both teams would leave them relying on an improbable slip from Germany at home to Belarus or Holland against Estonia. Which is very unlikely in the circumstances?

Although they finished bottom of their Nations League group, there is still a lifeline to feature in the playoffs as a result of teams from the top league having qualified automatically. Manager O’Neill has also left to join Stoke, but he will still take charge of the final qualifiers as well as any potential play-offs.

Whether this could prove to be a good move for Northern Ireland based on current circumstances would be known in due time. Leicester City star and defender for the Northern Ireland team did claim he was a bit confused with the whole managerial situation.

Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers: Tactical analysis of Portugal vs Ukraine

Ukraine against Portugal was a central fixture in Group B of the UEFA Euro 2020 qualification phase. Ukraine led by five points going into the game and was looking to all but seal top spot in the group. Football fans can book Ukraine Euro Cup Tickets from our website on exclusively discounted prices.

Portugal was not only looking to up, chasing Ukraine, but also wary of Serbia not too far behind them. They needed to grab a win to sit comfortably in an automatic qualification spot.

Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers: Tactical analysis of Portugal vs Ukraine
Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers: Tactical analysis of Portugal vs Ukraine

This tactical analysis will look at Ukraine’s pivotal 2-1 win over Portugal. The analysis will examine the tactics of both of these teams and how they approached the clash.

Ukraine building up

Ukraine would build up with their full-backs, Karavaev and Mykolenko, pushed up high much like Portugal. Stepanenko would drop back to help the centre-backs play out from the back. He would also be joined by one or even both of Malinovskiy and Zinchenko.

This helped them circulate the ball near the back but they would need to progress it. The aforementioned balls in behind were one tool and the positioning of Marlos also had a dual purpose. Playing as the false nine he would vacate the forward areas and roam in between the Portuguese lines.

Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers: Tactical analysis of Portugal vs Ukraine
Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers: Tactical analysis of Portugal vs Ukraine

He would then offer an option for Ukraine to bypass Portugal’s midfield lines with him having the technical qualities to play in tight areas. His positioning also allowed Yaremchuk and Yarmolenko to move centrally and make runs out of the half-spaces.

They could either make these runs wide or towards the centre between the fullbacks and Centre backs. These were the sort of runs that brought them success with those balls in behind.

Portugal used an aggressive man-orientated press to force Ukraine into sending the ball long. This was certainly an effective ploy especially considering Ukraine’s willingness to sit without the ball. When they did drop back, they also moved to 4-5-1 shape. This midfield five wouldn’t be in a compact line necessarily but would rather man-mark.

Portugal with the ball

When building up, Portugal would have Guerreiro and Semedo push up the pitch. Danilo, as the single-pivot, would then fall back to assist Pepe and Dias during the build-up. Moutinho and Mario would usually stay advanced of Danilo to offer passing lanes between the lines.

Of the two, Mario would most frequently drop deep to get involved in the build-up. Guedes and Silva would stay wide to try to stretch the Ukraine shape. This was possible to open up the space for runs in behind the Ukraine defence.

Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers: Tactical analysis of Portugal vs Ukraine
Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers: Tactical analysis of Portugal vs Ukraine

Ukraine would use a high press infrequently and often press to deter possession in the central areas. When not in the deep block, their defensive shape would look like a 4-3-1-2. Marlos would drop back and mark Danilo while Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk would tuck in to put pressure on the Portuguese central defenders.

At times, they were able to force the ball back to Patricio and eventually long balls were played disrupting Portugal’s build-up. But this fairly narrow shape would play into Portugal use of width which will be detailed in an upcoming section. To enjoy the most exciting matches, grab your Portugal.

Ukraine attacking

With them sitting so deep for long portions of the game, Ukraine had a few avenues to provide an attacking threat. Set-pieces would’ve been one they would aim to use and this gave them their opening goal. They weren’t able to generate any more chances from set-pieces for the rest of the contest.

Ukraine’s primary threat was the ball in behind the Portugal defence. The visitors employed quite a high line and left space for Ukraine to find runners. These balls were predominantly to the wingers, Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk who would make runs into the wide areas.

There they would try to beat their markers and failing that, they could start to circulate possession higher up the pitch. The space in behind didn’t have to be that vast for them to threaten as their second goal proved.

Conclusion

Ukraine pulled off an impressive win that wasn’t all smooth sailing. They did well to handle the barrage of crosses from attacks out wide. The hosts now sit eight points clear and already with one eye to the tournament next year.

Portugal, on the other hand, will be disappointed in defeat and needing to bounce back against Lithuania and Luxembourg. Serbia is now only a point behind them with two fixtures left, so it’ll certainly be a tense end to the group.

Chances of Wales to play Euro 2020 – Can Wales qualify for Euro 2020?

With two games left, the EURO 2020 qualifying groups are really heating up. The time has come for Wales’s manager Ryan Giggs to show the world what he’s made of and lead his squad into second place in Group E. Sports enthusiasts from around the world can purchase Wales Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

Chances of Wales to play Euro 2020 - Can Wales qualify for Euro 2020?
Chances of Wales to play Euro 2020

The Dragons are four points behind second-placed Hungary and two points behind third-place Slovakia. It’ll be tough to overturn the deficit in only two games, but with an away tie to lowly Azerbaijan followed by a key clash at home to Hungary, Wales’ prospects are better than they seem.

First up is the game against Azerbaijan, who lie bottom of the group with a single point from six games. Despite their less than stellar record, the Dragons have a handful of great players in their ranks, including Dynamo Moscow striker Ramil Sheydayev and defender Tamkin Khalilzade, currently plying his trade with Oleksandriya in the Ukranian top flight.

Still, Wales should sweep Azerbaijan aside if they can only keep focussed. The main problem presented by the fixture will be traveling, with Wales returning from the furthest reaches of Europe only a couple of days before that decisive showdown with Hungary.

The Hungary game is fraught with danger. Wales’s game in hand over their opponents grants them the perfect opportunity to make up their points deficit but allows the Hungarians a crucial advantage for the final showdown. While the Welsh squad battles it out in Baku, Hungary will doubtless be lounging in the hotel after a light training session.

Wales lost the away tie there back in June, but it was a narrow affair in which Giggs’ side had their fair share of chances. Wales is, without a doubt, the better team. A strong attacking performance, utilizing the pace and energy of the squad, could overwhelm Hungary, but Wales will need to be firing on all cylinders to ensure victory.

Giggs will need to strike the perfect balance when it comes to these games. Ideally, he needs to rest as many key players as possible for the Azerbaijan fixture, keeping them fresh for the infinitely more challenging tie against Hungary. Azerbaijan is, in theory, easy pickings, but that’s what Scotland thought in March right before Kazakhstan taught them a footballing lesson. The community who love their favorite team they are booking Euro Cup Final Tickets.

The main issue will come in terms of preserving firepower. While it would be unfair to call Wales a one-man-team, they certainly rely heavily on Gareth Bale for goals. With Sam Vokes averaging less than a goal every six games, Wales may need to rely on less internationally experienced players like Daniel James and Kieffer Moore to pick up the slack against Azerbaijan – in order to give the talismanic Real Madrid man breathing space.

Chances of Wales to play Euro 2020 - Can Wales qualify for Euro 2020
Chances of Wales to play Euro 2020 – Can Wales qualify for Euro 2020

Wales should be favorites for both games. Their squad is young, energetic and uniquely not suffering the standard Home Nations homogeny. Bale at Real Madrid, Ramsey at Juventus, as well as Ampadu, Lawrence, and Matondo currently plying their trade in Germany means the usual crew of Premiership and Championship pros are supplemented by continental talent, giving the team a crucial lilt of variety.

After a fantastic performance in Euro 2016, when Wales topped a group including Russia and England before falling to eventual tournament winners Portugal, it would be a shame for the nation not to reach the 2020 edition. The two upcoming games will hardly be easy – but compared to 2016’s quarter-final win over Belgium, they should be a walk in the park.

Euro 2020 Qualifiers: Germany, England look to consolidate qualification in final stretch

Euro 2020 Qualifying stages are quickly reaching its endgame, with the last couple of qualifiers. All set to go down in the next fortnight to decide which team will move ahead to the competition next year. Sports enthusiasts from around the world can purchase Germany Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

Euro 2020 Qualifiers - Germany, England look to consolidate qualification in final stretch
Euro 2020 Qualifiers – Germany, England look to consolidate qualification in final stretch

England’s team has a golden opportunity to end their qualification campaign in style, as a win against Montenegro should be enough to get them through. Furthermore, there’s a new controversy for Gareth Southgate to deal with.

After Raheem and Joe Gomez got in an alleged scuffle at international duty, forcing the 3 Lions to rule out Sterling for the next game, the tensions are high in the squad.

A win is typical to bring parity to things, as England must prove their quality by beating Montenegro, which will make the trip to Kosovo a mere formality for them.

German euro team players are also in search of confirming qualification having had some stumbles in their own qualification process. They’ll look to get maximum points from the remaining set of games while hoping the in-form Netherlands drop points to end their qualification group in the first place.

Dutch are undefeated in their last four qualifiers, but a trip to daunting Northern Ireland will be anything but comfortable.

Of course, even if they lose to the Netherlands, the Green and White Army could still qualify for the playoffs round, but Michael manager Michael O’Neill is not its biggest fan.

Regardless, their game will probably be the biggest of the last round, but there will be a few other nations scampering to make a last-ditch effort at keeping their qualification dreams alive.

Iceland will probably have to be content with a playoffs place as they’re still 4 points behind France and Turkey in Group H. The World Champions take on Moldova and Albania in their remaining matches, but they’ll be hoping Turkey drop points to win the group.

Wales are also in hollow ground and in desperate need of back-to-back wins to even make the playoffs round. Winless in two, they must defeat Azerbaijan and Hungary in their remaining matches and hope Slovakia slip up to even make the playoffs round at this point.

Croatia, on the other hand, needs just one win to attain qualification and should be able to get that done in their next set of fixtures. Fans from all over the world can buy Croatia Euro Cup Tickets online.

Scotland has already progressed into the play-offs round and will be thankful for that. With Andy Robertson, Scott McTominay and Ryan Fraser ruled out of their final qualifiers, defeating Cyprus and Kazakhstan will be difficult but still quite possible.

Spain, Italy, and Belgium have already progressed into the tournament. They’ll probably experiment with some new combinations for the tougher tasks ahead and give chances for the underused players to prove their mark in the last few Euro qualifiers.

England’s greatest ever XI including Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Bobby Moore

England will bring up the significant landmark of their 1000th international match on Thursday evening when they welcome Montenegro to Wembley.

Gareth Southgate’s side needs just one point from their two remaining qualifiers to guarantee their place at Euro 2020 and will be huge favourites to pick up a sixth win from seven games in Group A. To enjoy most exciting matches, grab your England Euro Cup Tickets.

The contest will also provide an opportunity to celebrate the rich 147-year history of the England men’s team, from their first-ever match against Scotland in 1872, through their 1966 World Cup win and right up to the modern-day.

The Three Lions have won 568 and lost 189 of their previous 999 outings, scoring 2,188 goals in the process.

Over the years 19 different managers have called upon 1,244 different players, and here Sports Mole takes on the near-impossible task of slimming that down to their best-ever XI.

Goalkeeper: Gordon Banks

England’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper and one of the greatest to ever don a pair of gloves, Gordon Banks is perhaps best remembered not for his role in the Three Lions’ crowning glory, but rather pulling off a save many deem to be the best of all-time four years later.

Banks produced a scarcely-believable stop to deny Brazil’s Pele at the 1970 World Cup, flicking the powerful downward header up and over the crossbar when it looked like a certain goal.

It was one of many highlights in an international career that spanned 73 caps over nine years from 1963 to 1972, with England’s all-time record appearance holder Peter Shilton having to play second fiddle to his former Leicester City and England teammate. Fans from all over the world can buy Euro Cup Final Tickets online.

Right-back: Phil Neal

A position blessed with a glut of consistent performers rather than standout superstars, former Liverpool stalwart Phil Neal is our right-back despite featuring in an England team which regularly underperformed.

Neal only appeared at two major tournaments for his country – the 1980 European Championship and 1982 World Cup – and had a relatively short international career of seven years. However, during that time he won 50 caps and scored five goals in addition to racking up trophy after trophy with Liverpool.

Neal ended his club career with 23 pieces of silverware, including eight top-flight titles and four European Cups.

Center-backs: Bobby Moore, Billy Wright

No all-time England XI would be complete without the golden boy of English football Bobby Moore, who remains the nation’s only World Cup-winning captain having led the Three Lions to glory in 1966. Described by Pele as the best defender he ever faced, Moore’s impeccable timing and reading of the game ensured that he made facing some of the greatest ever attackers look easy.

The West Ham United legend was made England captain at just 22 – the youngest to be handed the armband – and went on to lead his country in 90 of his 108 appearances, the latter of which was a national record at the time of his retirement. For live action, you can buy Euro Cup Semi Finals Tickets online.

The only man who can match Moore’s tally of 90 games as England captain is Billy Wright, who was also the most-capped player for the national team at the time of his retirement. Indeed, the Wolverhampton Wanderers stalwart was the first player in international football history to earn a century of caps, going on to reach 105 before retiring in 1959.

Left-back: Ashley Cole

Arguably the only England player who consistently replicated his club form for England during the ‘Golden Generation’, Ashley Cole was widely regarded as one of the world’s best full-backs throughout his 13-year international career.

Cole went on to win 107 caps for his country, leaving him as England’s highest-capped full-back and sixth on the all-time list. As well as appearing at five major tournaments for the Three Lions, Cole also won three Premier League titles, a record seven FA Cups and the Champions League during his club career.

Right-midfield: Stanley Matthews

The first real superstar of English football and the measuring stick for wingers for decades, Sir Stanley Matthews boasts a plethora of historic achievements in football – the first player to be knighted while still playing, the first winner of the Ballon d’Or and the FWA Footballer of the Year awards and England’s oldest ever player.

Nicknamed ‘The Wizard of the Dribble’, Matthews’s international career spanned 23 years, although the Second World War limited him to 54 caps. The winger made up for his lost time, though, last appearing for England at the age of 42 and going on to play in the top flight until he was 50. The community who love their favorite team they are booking Euro Cup Quarter Finals Tickets .

Center-midfield: Sir Bobby Charlton, Steven Gerrard

In a hugely competitive area of the team, one sure-fire pick was Sir Bobby Charlton. While Bobby Moore was the talisman behind England’s 1966 World Cup win, Charlton was the driving force and most memorably scored twice in the semi-final to down Eusebio’s Portugal. The final itself saw him play a more reserved but equally important role to limit the influence of a young Franz Beckenbauer.

Charlton ended his England career with 106 caps and 49 goals to his name – both records at the time of his retirement – and his performances in 1966 saw him win the Ballon d’Or as well as a host of other individual awards that year. At club level he made 758 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 249 goals.

Only five outfield players have played more for England than Bobby Charlton, and one of them partners him in central midfield. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard hung up his boots after the 2014 World Cup having made 114 appearances for his country, including being part of six major tournaments.

While his international career was often criticized for an apparent struggle to play alongside Frank Lampard or a failure to emulate his Liverpool heroics for England, Gerrard was still one of his country’s most consistent and high-quality performers throughout the ultimately underwhelming Golden Generation.

Left-midfield: Sir Tom Finney

Perhaps the greatest compliment that can be paid to Sir Tom Finney is that there were many who could not choose between him and Sir Stanley Matthews when both were in their pomp. Finney perhaps did not get the same overall level of recognition as his fellow world-class contemporary, but those within the game were in no doubt as to his quality and Matthews himself compared him to the likes of Pele, Diego Maradona, George Best, and Alfredo Di Stefano.

England's greatest ever XI - Sir Tom Finney
England’s greatest ever XI – Sir Tom Finney

The winger’s loyalty to hometown club Preston North End was unflinching, spending his entire career with the unfashionable outfit despite numerous offers from elsewhere. At the international level, he made 76 appearances, scoring 30 goals – a record at the time – thanks largely to his ability to play on either wing or as a centre-forward.

Center-forwards: Wayne Rooney, Gary Lineker

There are many who feel Wayne Rooney did not fulfill his potential with England after bursting onto the scene as a breath of fresh air at Euro 2004, but his stats stand up against anyone. The former captain is the most-capped outfield player with 120 appearances, and surpassed Bobby Charlton’s goalscoring record before ending on 53 – the only player to break the half-century mark for the Three Lions.

Voted England’s player of the year four times – twice as many as anyone else since the award was introduced in 2003 – Rooney also broke records at club level with Manchester United, where he scored an unparalleled 253 goals in addition to winning 16 trophies.

England's greatest ever XI - Wayne Rooney
England’s greatest ever XI – Wayne Rooney

Rooney could famously score all types of goal, but England have also been blessed with a number of football’s great poachers throughout the years, and Gary Lineker narrowly edges Jimmy Greaves to the second center-forward role in this team. Lineker agonizingly ended his international career on 48 goals – one short of the then-record held by Bobby Charlton – from just 80 caps.

An unrivaled 10 of those goals came at World Cups, including six at the 1986 tournament as he became the first English player to win the Golden Boot. Four more followed as England reached the semi-finals in 1990, falling just short of a first final since 1966 against West Germany in Italy.

Fernando Santos’ side is currently second in the group but is just a point ahead of Serbia with two games left to play.

However, Portugal is hosting Lithuania next, who are bottom of the group and have just one point from their seven games so far, scoring just five times in that run.

With second-bottom Luxembourg to come in their final fixture, Portugal may feel confident of picking up maximum points and finishing second in Group B.

With five members of the last Portugal squad missing, Santos is going to have to make some changes to the starting lineup that were beaten 2-1 away from home by group leaders Ukraine.

However, Wolverhampton Wanderer’s goalkeeper Rui Patricio is fit and will be expected to start in between the sticks against Lithuania.

Benfica defender Ruben Dias is likely to retain his place ahead of him at the heart of the defence, as is Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro at left-back. With Semedo out, Leicester City right-back Ricardo Periera looks likely to replace him, while one veteran defender could replace another, with Jose Fonte coming in for Pepe alongside Dias.

Given the nature of the fixture, the more defensive-minded Danilo Pereira could drop out for Ruben Neves, who could partner club team-mate Joao Moutinho in midfield. Ahead of them, Bernardo Silva should keep his place on the right, while Bruno Fernandes could play as a tucked-in option on the left flank in place of Guedes.

Cristiano Ronaldo will undoubtedly start in attack if he is fit, while Mario could be replaced with an extra striker as Portugal go for goals, with Andre Silva in line to partner to the Juventus star upfront.

Euro 2020 qualifiers – Raheem Sterling out of England’s match against Montenegro after break up with Joe Gomez

Raheem Sterling has been dropped by England manager Gareth Southgate for Thursday’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro after the conflicts between Manchester City and Liverpool fell over into the England camp. Liverpool beat Sterling’s City 3-1 on 10th Nov Sunday to move 9 points clear of the defending Premier League champions at the top of the table.

The Liverpool defender Joe Gomez and Sterling had to be separated by team-mates on Monday after a “physical hostility.”

The pair had also collided on the field towards the end of Sunday’s match.

In a statement delivered by the Football Association (FA), Southgate said: “We have taken the decision to not ponder Raheem for the match against Montenegro.”

“One of the great challenges and strengths for us is that we’ve been capable to separate club competitions from the national team. Unluckily the feelings of yesterday’s game were still raw.

Southgate said, their feeling is that the right thing for the team is the action they have taken. Now that the decision has been made with the agreement of the complete squad, it’s important that they support the players and focus on Thursday night.

“Both Joe and I have had words and figured things out and moved forward. We are in a sport where passions run high and I am man enough to admit when emotions got the better of me. Let’s get focus on our match on Thursday,” Sterling said on his Instagram account.

A draw against Montenegro at Wembley will be enough to surety England’s place at Euro 2020.

England can celebrate qualification for Euro 2020 if they get a result against Montenegro at Wembley Stadium on Thursday evening. Gareth Southgate’s side is three points clear at the top of Group A, and need just one point from their two remaining games to seal their place at next summer’s European Championships.

The Three Lions’ last outing saw them thrash Bulgaria 6-0 in Sofia, though the match was marred by disgraceful racist chanting from Bulgarian fans. Football fans can book England Euro Cup Tickets on our website on exclusively discounted prices.

Southgate’s side acquitted themselves well in the face of awful abuse and will look to move on from those awful scenes as they take on Montenegro in front of a buoyant Wembley crowd with a qualification in sight.

England 4-0 Montenegro

Having eased to a 5-1 win in Montenegro back in March, England should see out another comfortable victory at Wembley. If the Three Lions get an early goal, it should be a rout.

Team news

James Maddison has been handed another England chance despite his controversial casino visit during the last international break. Maddison pulled out of the team to face the Czech State and Bulgaria last month because of sickness.

But the uncapped 22-year-old was pictured in a casino during the 2-1 overthrow in Prague. John Stones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have also been handed England reminiscences. Everton defender Michael Keane has been released and there is still no place for Dele Alli.

Stamford Bridge team-mate Mason Mount is also included in spite of coming off in Tuesday’s 4-4 Champions League draw against Ajax with an ankle problem. England manager Southgate insists Kyle Walker’s international career is not over despite ignoring him for a third-successive squad.

As well as Walker, there was no place for Aston Villa’s in-form captain Jack Grealish or Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard. Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson was a late call-up in place of injured Aston Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton. Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley is also ruled out, but will not be replaced.

Head to head (H2H) results in the history

The Three Lions do not boast a glittering record against Montenegro, having drawn three of their five meetings. England drew both Euro 2012 qualifiers home (0-0) and away (2-2), the following World Cup qualifier (1-1) away before winning the reverse fixture 4-1 at Wembley in 2013.

Southgate also led England to a 5-1 away win back in March, with goals from Michael Keane, Ross Barkley (2), Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling sealing a routine Euro 2020 qualifying victory.
